February is all about love and that includes your pets. 

To keep your pets happy and healthy, as well as control the pet population Okanagan Humane Society is relaunching its Spay it Forward campaign. 

During the month of February in the lead up to International Spay Neuter Day, which is on Feb. 25, OHS is encouraging people to visit and check out the veterinary partners throughout the region who are participating in the campaign. Supporters are asked to either to visit those vets and make a donation at the till, which will help to spay and neuter all of these thousands of community cats that OHS takes care of every single year, or donate online. 

Volunteer president Romany Runnalls said that already in 2025, OHS has had requests to help more than 500 animals with spay/neutering.

91裸聊视频淪ome of the health benefits of spaying and neutering your animals are not only do they avoid having unwanted litters, of course, but there are conditions that both animals, dogs and cats can get as a result of not spaying and neutering,91裸聊视频� said Runnalls. 

Other health concerns that come with not spaying/neutering are: 

• Pyometra is a serious and life-threatening infection in the uterus. The condition must be treated quickly and aggressively. If pregnancy does not occur for several estrus cycles, the lining increases in thickness until cysts form in the uterus. This condition is called cystic endometrial hyperplasia. 
• Neutering is one of the most effective ways to reduce or eliminate spraying behaviour in male cats. It also helps their hormonal urges, making them less likely to engage in territorial marking behaviours.
• Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) occur when bacteria travel up the urethra (the tube through which urine exits the body) and into the bladder. Male cats may pass only small amounts of urine or cry while urinating. 
• Neutering can reduce the risk of some cancers in dogs and cats.
