Concerns for customer safety and lack of security patrol have resulted in Armstrong's VantageOne Credit Union temporarily closing its automated teller system vestibule after hours.
The move was made, said VantageOne chief administrative officer Glenn Bensichek, for a couple of reasons.
"We took this action due to an individual occupying this vestibule while it was closed, and this person was known to be aggressive, posing a risk to our members," said Benischek.
"There are also no security companies in Armstrong. In Vernon, there are companies who patrol our vestibules and if there's someone occupying the inside, they nicely move them along."
Benischek said VantageOne is moving the Armstrong site "to the outdoor world," eliminating an inside vestibule.
"We hope to have that completed by April or May," he said.
The vestibule is currently closed evenings and on Sunday and Monday. It is open during operating hours Tuesday to Saturday.
