More than $485,000 was raised for the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation91Ƶs 2023 Celebrate the Miracles campaign.

91ƵOver 810 gifts were made by our generous community to the holiday campaign in support of Kelowna General Hospital and JoeAnna91Ƶs House,91Ƶ said Allison Young, KGH Foundation CEO. 91ƵEvery single gift, no matter the size, makes a difference.91Ƶ

Some of the money will support the equipment needs of Interior Health91Ƶs High Acuity Response Team (HART), a group of critical care nurses and respiratory therapists who support the transport of high acuity patients to KGH.

91ƵEach year over 1,500 regional patients are transferred by HART teams to specialized care, of which the majority of cases, approximately 750 per year, are transported to KGH,91Ƶ said Brent Hobbs, HART Program Director. 91ƵThat number is increasing every year.91Ƶ

Funds raised during the foundation91Ƶs seasonal campaign are used to purchase vital medical equipment required for HART teams.

91ƵThis equipment literally helps keep people alive during transport and supports clear communication and faster diagnosis with emergency teams at KGH,91Ƶ Hobbs explained.

Young added that the seasonal giving campaign is important as the funds are, for the most part, undesignated.

91ƵWhich means that we can use them to address pressing needs in our hospital and community health sites that might otherwise get overlooked.91Ƶ
