Kelowna RCMP had a couple successful days taking offenders and illegal drugs off the streets as part of a two-day project.
Starting on Friday, Jan. 24, the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) conducted a multi-unit project aimed to targeting and disrupting the local illicit drug trade throughout Kelowna. Other units involved in the assignment included the Proactive Enforcement Unit, Kelowna Municipal Traffic, Police Dog Services and members of General Duty, all of which have played their role in taking illegal drugs off the streets over the last few months.
Over the course of the two days, RCMP arrested more than 30 individuals. While there was a focus on detecting and apprehending people who were trafficking illicit drugs, people were arrested for offences under the Criminal Code and Motor Vehicles Acts.
Officers found a many prohibited drivers and executed several arrest warrants including one individual found to be Unlawfully at Large. They also seized approximately 450 grams of various illicit drugs and weapons and towed 13 vehicles.
