Ecole Belgo Elementary in Kelowna has been chosen as a recipient for Indigo91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s 2016 Adopt a School program.

This recognition means the Chapters store at Orchard Park Mall  will be fundraising on the school's behalf over a three-week campaign.

With the money raised, school hopes to have the financial resources to revitalize the library.

In addition to this adopted school, Ellison Elementary and Quigley Elementary also have their own fundraising pages through where online donations can be made.

Here is how the community can get involved:

*   Donate: All participating schools receive 100% of the donations fundraised in-store and online. Schools will also receive 30% off all books at Indigo, Chapters and Coles stores.

* Book Bonus: The Indigo Love of Reading Foundation will offer a matching program for all online donations. With every $20 donation received (the equivalent value of two books), the school will receive a third book for free.

*  Tell a Story, Give a Story: Canadians can also support without a donation by sharing a short story on the online profile of a participating school. If that story is selected to be featured on the Adopt a School website, the Foundation will donate a book to that school91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s library for free!

From now until Oct. 9, the annual campaign is uniting more than 200 high-needs elementary schools with local Indigo, Chapters and Coles stores in their communities to raise funds for new books and educational resources that are in very short supply.

By addressing the underfunding of school libraries in Canada, where a shocking 43% of students leaving high school don91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™t have the literacy skills needed for the majority of Canadian jobs, the Adopt a School program helps promote literacy in schools and the impact that access to additional books has on students.
