Lake City Basketball is gearing up for its 10th birthday.
The Penticton youth league is celebrating one decade on the court this spring season with around 12 boys' squads and four girls' teams across the U11 to U17 age groups.
Dustin Hyde, who along with Chris Terris serves as a Lake City Basketball director, credited the community's "overwhelming" support for the league's continued success.
"We've had an amazing commitment from coaches in the community, many of whom also coach during the school season," Hyde said. "We simply couldn't run our club basketball program without so many quality people committing so much time."
Local club teams, featuring players across the South Okanagan and Similkameen, practice twice a week and play games across the B.C. Interior and Lower Mainland.
After spring break 2025, the league says it is launching Sunday programs in three divisions: Rookie division (Grades 2 to 4), pro division (Grades 5 to 7), and all-star division (Grades 8 to 10).
Games will be played at Okanagan College in Penticton.
"Our spring youth leagues have sold out for the last three or four years," Hyde said. "These are a fantastic way for younger players to be introduced to the game and for older players to stay involved in the game, especially those who can't commit to our club program."
Lake City Basketball also says it is offering "Spring Break Basketball Camps" for players in Grades 2 to 7, from March 17 to 20 at Holy Cross School in Penticton.
