Team Beck got off to a rocking start at the 2024 BC U21 curling championships currently underway at the Salmon Arm Curling Centre.

Back from competition at the 2024 Canadian U18 Male and Female Curling Championships in Ottawa, brothers Kaidan (skip) and Nolan Beck (second) of Salmon Arm were back at their home rink for the start of the U21 Men91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s competition on Wednesday, Feb. 14. They were joined once again by lead Harrison Hrynew of New Westminster, while Alex Duncan-Wu, also of New Westminster, served as the team91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s third.

For their first game of the event, Team Beck was up against Team Tomlinson, with skip Austin Tomlinson, Elias Rands (third) and Noah Longland (lead) of Salmon Arm, and Enderby91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Ben Froese (second). Team Beck would dominate the house at both ends, winning the game 9-0.

Both teams have games again at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, with Team Beck going up against Team McKenzie, with skip Taj McKenzie, Felix Lau (second) and the Vernon Curling Club91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Koen Hampshire (lead) and Nolan Blaeser (fourth). Team Tomlinson will be playing against Team Wilson, lead by Prince George91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Colby Wilson (skip), along with Connor Applegate (third), Ryan Cowell (second) and Isaac Villeneuve (lead).

U21 Men91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s and Women91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s, and open stick championships continue through the weekend.

Women91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s competition begins at 2 p.m. on Feb. 16 with Team Ardnt, lead by the Vernon Curling Club91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Ava Arndt, playing Team Bowles, lead by Emily Bowles of North Delta, and Kamloops91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™ Team Hafeli, lead by Holly Hafeli, competing against Kelowna91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Team Rempel, lead by Hannah Rempel.
