Okanagan gynmasts show well in U.S.

The Okanagan Gymnastics Acrobatic team gained some valuable international experience and brought home some hardware from two major competitions this month south of the border.

Two teams and their coach, Shawna De Leske, started the journey in Boerne, Texas where the Level 7 Mixed Pair of Robert Knight and Taya Vliek won the gold medal.

Level 7 Womans Pair of Alivia Brown and Maddi Dalkeith placed 9th.

Following the weekend in Texas, these two teams continued their journey to Las Vegas, where the rest of the team joined them.

The Vegas Acro Cup was a huge International Cup with over 700 entries from around the world. Fifteen athletes from attended and showed very well, beating out some very prestigious clubs.

Level 6 Trio of Cheyanna Wolff, Ava Murray and Kristen Riopel missed out on silver by just a hair with their beautiful routine and took fourth place.

Level 7 Womans Pair of Alivia Brown and Maddi Dalkeith placed 9th.

Level 7 Mixed Pair of Robert Knight and Taya Vliek won gold.

Level 8 Womens Pair 13 under of Brie-Lynn Sargeant and Megan Bailie won gold.

Level 8 Womens Pair 14+ of Ava Clark and Sara Ross won bronze, while Natalia Johnson and Charli Hall placed 12th.

Level 10 Mixed Pair of Jackson Peters and Jacob Wong won gold.

Four medals at their ever international competition was a breakthrough for the OGC Acro program.

Head Coach ShawnaDe Leske and Assistant Coach Max Brodin are very proud of how hard these amazing athletes prepared for and competed at this huge event.
