A South Surrey hockey player 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ” and Tampa Bay Lightning prospect 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ” has been named the Western Hockey League's Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Sunday (Jan. 26), the second week in a row he has earned the honour.

Medicine Hat Tigers netminder Harrison Meneghin has earned the top title in back-to-back weeks, in addition to a WHL Goaltender of the Week win in October, a recent WHL release noted. 

The National Hockey League prospect and former Delta Hockey Academy player went 2-0-0-0 on the week with a 1.50 goals-against average and a .941 save percentage to kick off a U.S. Division road trip.The 6-foot-4, 174-pound goalie has won his last five appearances and is 11-8-0-0 on the season with a 2.49 goals-against average, a .901 save percentage and two shutouts.

Currently, Meneghin sits second among all qualified goaltenders in goals-against average, ninth in save percentage and is tied for second in shutouts. A 2024 WHL Goaltender of the Year nominee, he has hit major career milestones this season with a 57-40-7-2 record, a 2.68 goals-against average and six shutouts while surpassing 100 games played and closing in on 3,000 saves, said the release.

He was also named a WHL Central Division Second Team All-Star in 2023 and a First Team All-Star in 2024.

Tampa Bay Lightning selected Meneghin in the seventh round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
