Short trips on Neuron Mobility's bright orange e-scooters are about to get more affordable in Vernon.

Neuron announced Wednesday it is launching a new  $2.50 flat fee for all rides in Vernon that are below 15 minutes. The company said the offer will start this week and will run until the end of the year. The e-scooter season runs as long as weather permits, and in previous years it's gone well into December, according to spokesperson Isaac Ransom.

It is anticipated that the deal will encourage more people to take the e-scooters out for a spin.

Riders will need to activate the "fixed fare pass" option in the offers page of the Neuron app in order to access the offer.

Those who ride for longer than 15 minutes will be billed the standard pay-as-you-ride rate of $0.35 for each extra minute.

The offer does not preclude Neuron's riders from purchasing any other passes.

91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵœWe91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™re delighted to launch the new $2.50 flat fee offer and anticipate it will make it easier and more affordable for residents and visitors to explore Vernon on our e-scooters," said Ankush Karwal, general manager of Neuron Mobility Canada.

91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵœWe91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™re excited to see the continued positive impact our riders are making in the community 91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ” not only are they reducing emissions but they are also driving economic growth for local businesses.91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ

Since the e-scooter program launched in Vernon in July 2021, riders have travelled over 805,000 kilometres. Neuron says almost 40 per cent of e-scooter trips replaced a car trip, equating to over 52 tonnes of C02 avoided to date. The company also estimates that the program injects $4.5 million into the local economy annually.
