Sicamous Fire Rescue earns High Angle Rope Rescue certification

Select group from Enderby Fire Dept. also attended the 3-day course

Members of Sicamous Fire Rescue stay in fighting form with weekly training, but also recently received some additional instruction to help better serve in the area's diverse terrain.

Over the first weekend in February, SFR members and a select group from the Enderby Fire Department completed the High Angle Rope Rope Rescue Operations course, an intensive three-day program with experienced instructors from Dynamic Rescue Systems.

According to Dynamic, the course "focuses on skills in the vertical environment," including rescuing victims stranded in precarious locations. All participants completed the program successfully and received their certification.

In a media release, the district said this training was done with support from Aecon, which sponsored it.

"The District of Sicamous would like to extend a special thank you to Aecon-Emil Anderson Construction General Partnership for sponsoring this course as part of their commitment to safety and partnership with the Bruhn Bridge Project."
