Salmon Arm pilot project offers funding for eco-friendly events

Program encourages look at ways to make event sustainable, support local

A new pilot program looks to support Salmon Arm events designed with sustainability and supporting local in mind.

As part of the city91裸聊视频檚 Municipal and Regional District Tax MRDT event funding program, the Salmon Arm Economic Development Society has launched a new initiative, SA Green, intended to encourage event planners to think strategically about planning eco-minded events in the community.

Through the online application process, available at a, those interested in program funding must specify what SA Green priorities the event will align with (Waste Reduction, Support Local, Sustainable Exploration and Water Conservation) and provide information about how they might be achieved. Applicants must also explain how the funding will support the MRDT goal of increasing overnight stays in Salmon Arm.

Regarding SA Green priorities, examples of actions are provided for each. Options to 91裸聊视频淩educe Waste91裸聊视频 include offering compostable and recycling solutions, avoiding single-use promotional materials or attendee items (name tags, lanyards, etc.) and having a 91裸聊视频渓eave no trace91裸聊视频 plan for event clean up. Suggestions to 91裸聊视频淪upport Local91裸聊视频 include procurement of local items, foods and products for an event, and use of local hospitality/accommodations (reducing travel); and having an event plan that reduced the overall carbon footprint and environmental impact. 91裸聊视频淪ustainable Exploration91裸聊视频 could involve use of carpooling or a shuttle, as well as offering itineraries, maps and local information that communicate safe and sustainable exploration in the area. For 91裸聊视频淲ater Conservation,91裸聊视频 event planners may consider conservation along with protecting natural wetlands and water sources; and having refillable water station and potable water access. If the event is utilizing utilizing rivers, lakes, wetlands, beaches or any outdoor environments near area waterways, planners might consider what information will be shared with guests or promoted based on the time of year of the event and its location.
