Salmon Arm RCMP say a man at a downtown residence expecting an ambulance to arrive was put off when police showed up in response to a break and enter.

The break and enter was reported around 4 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25. Officers arrived at the residence to find a woman who 91Ƶnonchalantly informed police she had called,91Ƶ explained Salmon Arm RCMP Const. Andrew Hodges in a Feb. 7 media release.

91ƵThere appeared to be no emergency and no active break and enter,91Ƶ said Hodges. 91ƵA male then presented himself and became aggravated police were there, indicating he had called for an ambulance, and not police.91Ƶ

The attending officers confirmed an ambulance had been called, but explained that due to the nature of the call, police were requested by BC Ambulance. Hodges said the man was uncooperative with police, but eventually alleged that two or three suspects had broke into the home and struck him with a club. He said the man sprayed the attackers with pepper spray and the attackers left.

91ƵThe man continued to be uncooperative with police and refused to share any more details,91Ƶ said Hodges.

The man was transported to hospital for further evaluation. Hodges said police believe the incident was a targeted attack, with no further safety concerns for the neighbourhood.
