Hail storm hits Penticton, city crews conduct road clean-up

Brief storm brings rain, hail

Penticton and its surrounding areas have been hit with a sudden mid-October hail storm.

City crews can be seen on Wednesday afternoon cleaning roads following the brief weather event that resulted in water pooling due to blocked storm drainage.

The hail storm occurred shortly after 12 p.m. on Oct. 16, with Summerland also hit by the event.

"If you have a catch basin on your street, please do clear it of any fallen leaves," Penticton city officials reminded in a social media post. "This will help prevent localized flooding. Meanwhile, slow down and drive safe out there."
