On Feb. 24, Sicamous RCMP and the Southeast District Major Crime Unit responded to a shooting in the Best Western parking lot, where a man was found dead. The following day police released a description of a possible suspect vehicle, a black Mercedes G-Wagon, reportedly seen fleeing the area of the hotel westbound on Highway 1. On April 3, the Eagle Valley News requested updates on the situation from Staff Sgt. Kris Clark, senior media relations officer of RCMP E Division. That, however, produced no new details.
