Rutland HS football falls 1 spot in B.C. rankings despite shutout win

In AA, Vernon is the #1 ranked team

Rutland is 1-0 to start the 2024 season.

Despite a shutout win, Rutland High School actually went down a spot in the AAA football rankings.

Heading into the preseason the #2 ranked team in the province, Rutland beat Nechako Valley 32-0 in week one of the preseason.

Even though they won big, they dropped one spot in the rankings because #5 ranked New Westminster beat #4 ranked G.W. Graham 47-6. With the win, New Westminster moved up to the #2 spot. 

Also in week one, Kelowna Secondary lost to South Delta (#7 ranked) 17-10 and Mount Boucherie lost 40-6 to Lord Tweedsmuir.

In AA action, Okanagan Mission won 48-0 over Earl Marriott, Vernon beat Windsor 21-0 and Salmon Arm lost 20-7 against Clarence Fulton AA. With the win, Vernon is now the #1 ranked team in AA.
