Wildfire sparked in Kelowna's Gallagher's Canyon under control

The fire was reported shortly before 8 p.m. on Aug. 5

A wildfire near Gallagher's Canyon was discovered and quickly doused on Monday night, Aug. 5.

After being discovered just before 8 p.m., it was being held by 10 p.m. and considered under control by BC Wildfire Services at 11:35 p.m.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. However, the Okanagan received unexpected rain, thunder and lightning on Monday night, which led to a storm warning issued by Environment Canada.

The blaze only reached 0.009 hectares in size.
