The woman apprehended by police at Kelowna's Rutland Secondary School on Feb. 27 was not a student, said Justin Schneider, the communications advisor for Central Okanagan Public Schools.
He said that the person who was arrested is not associated with School District 23 in any way.
Cpl. Michael Gauthier with the Kelowna RCMP said that the adult woman was not supposed to be on school grounds.
"During her arrest, the suspect female resisted and assaulted a police officer, resulting in a multi-member response," said Gauthier.
The suspect is in police custody.
One officer sustained minor injuries and is receiving medical attention.
No further details will be released at this time.

At least five RCMP vehicles and a BC Ambulance responded to an incident at Rutland Senior Secondary School in Kelowna, on Thursday.
According to a witness who asked to remain anonymous, a female was surrounded by officers before being apprehended.
After speaking with several students and staff, officers left the scene at approximately 1 p.m. on Feb. 27.
