Paying homage to an Okanagan Valley original, Kelowna91Ƶs OV103.9 debuted today (Apr. 2).

CKOV was the first radio station in the Okanagan Valley, launched in 1931. For the past few years, the station was 103.9 The Lake.

General Manager Karl Johnston says the change from The Lake to OV103.9 followed extensive research and conversations with listeners.

91ƵWe91Ƶve built the new OV103.9 to satisfy the over-50 demo in the Valley with music they remember. Listeners told us they wanted to hear big hits, a big music library, and hourly local news and community information.91Ƶ

91ƵThat 91Ƶ70s Station91Ƶ will play favourite songs from the 91Ƶ70s, including Elton John, Chicago, ABBA, the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac; and some from the 91Ƶ60s, including Simon & Garfunkel, the Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, and of course, the Beatles,91Ƶ it states on the station91Ƶs website.

Program director Corey Fischer says it91Ƶs the radio the audience remembers.

91ƵOV103.9 has the news you need and music you remember for the first time together on FM, online and streaming.91Ƶ
