Residents in Kelowna91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s Crawford neighbourhood will be some of the first in the province to try out BC Transit91ÂãÁÄÊÓƵ™s new OnDemand service.

It allows riders to book trips using a smartphone app, or by phone, requesting a ride that begins or ends within the Crawford area, or to and from the Mission Recreation Transit Exchange.

A news release from BC Transit says the new service will provide shorter wait and travel times, better access to areas that had limited service, and increased service during off-peak times, particularly on weekends.

Before the service starting, BC Transit will be offering two public engagement sessions so riders can learn more about the program:

  • Thur., Mar. 7, and Wed. Mar. 27, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Mission Recreation Exchange, Mission Recreation Gym/Rink, and onboard Route 15 buses.

According to the release, if successful, the service could expand to other locations and communities around the province.
