BC Conservatives 'demand action' on Highway 97 in Okanagan

'We are tired of being left behind by the NDP'

West Kelowna-Peachland MLA Macklin McCall says enough is enough when it comes to Highway 97 closures through the Okanagan.

McCall adds that the Conservative want the province to allocate funding in the upcoming budget for comprehensive Highway 97 upgrades.

91裸聊视频淭he livelihoods and safety of British Columbians are at stake,91裸聊视频 he added.

The release adds that the route as been plagued for years by frequent closures due to landslides, wildfires, and other hazards.
 
91裸聊视频淗ighway 97 is a lifeline for the Okanagan region, carrying over 20,000 vehicles daily,91裸聊视频 said Harman Bhangu, MLA for Langley-Abbotsford and Shadow Minister of Transportation. 91裸聊视频淵et, under Eby91裸聊视频檚 NDP, it has become a symbol of mismanagement and neglect.91裸聊视频

The highway has seen repeated closures, including the August 2023 rockslide that took nearly a year to clear, and caused significant disruptions, the media release also notes.

McCall and Bhangu, along with other Okanagan MLAs and the mayors of Summerland and Peachland, are touring the area of the 2023 rockslide today.
