Art instructors and Salmon Arm Secondary students lead numerous workshops

North Okanagan-Shuswap school students found a creative outlet at a Salmon Arm mall during the Elementary District Art Fair.

Student artwork from elementary schools throughout School District 83 were displayed in the Mall at Piccadilly for the weeklong annual event that began on Feb. 7. On Wednesdays, groups of students, accompanied by parents, from participating schools were at the mall to take part in a day of workshops. Lead by local artists, the numerous workshops offered opportunities to create pottery, self portraits, calligraphy, cross-stitching, Indigenous bead work, monster headbands and more.

Supporting the artists and students were numerous Salmon Arm Secondary students including Jocelyn Wohlford, who organized the high school volunteers.

The art fair wraps up at the mall on on Friday, Feb. 14.
